13 in Thirteen – Raising Money For the NSPCC

In 2013, I will be competing in not 1 but 13 official 10km races over the year.

For those who don’t know me, my name is Richard Hayes and I’m a 31 year old from North Sheffield. In 2012, I managed to lose over 4 stone in just under 4 months. This was partly due to my fondness for running. I have already completed three 10km races and my PB was set on 2nd Dec and is 50:15.

The NSPCC is a charity that I have a lot time for. The NSPCC was there for me when I suffered abuse as a child and I want to say thank you for all their help and support. Plus, with my new found love of running, I wanted to do something that is different and will get people talking about it. This will hopefully raise a nice total for the charity and raise awareness at the same time.

The planned races are as follows. These are subject to change and I will keep these updated as soon as know of any changes:

Running in the Bupa 10km race in Sheffield

  1. Jan – Chernobyl 10k. Time 49:47

  2. Feb – Brass Monkey 10K – 10th

  3. Mar – Sheffield Varsity 10k – 10th

  4. Apr – Wakefield Hospice 10k Road Race – 14th

  5. May – Bupa Great Manchester Run – 26th

  6. Jun – Penistone 10km Road Race – 30th

  7. Jul – Leeds 10km – 14th

  8. Jul – Rother Valley 10km – 21st

  9. Aug – York 10km – 4th

  10. Sep – Great Yorkshire Run – 29th

  11. Oct – TenTenTen – 13th

  12. Nov – Shakespeare Raceway 10K – 16th

  13. Dec – Percy Pud 10k – 1st
