2015 Is An Exciting Year For The Civic – One Full Of Fresh and Exciting Performances and Event

Still looking for those last minute Christmas presents?  Your local theatre and art gallery might be able to help!  The Civic Spring/Summer 2015 brochure is out now and is jam-packed full of events and exhibitions for you and your family to enjoy. And if you’re not sure what to choose, then why not buy a Civic Gift Voucher for your loved one?

Continuing to make your experience as enjoyable and affordable as possible we are also offering early bird discounts to all theatre bookers. We’ve all heard the saying – ‘the early bird catches the worm’. Well, in the case of The Civic, where the Early Bird logo is featured, if you book six weeks before the performance date, you will save £2 on full price tickets, and £1 on concession price tickets. Shows were you can benefit from this include: United We Stand – the true story of the 1972 Builders’ Strike, That’s Amore – Tmesis Theatre’s latest piece of physical theatre, John Godber’s Teechers with Blackeyed Theatre and Magic Lantern Tales – an evening of spoken word with the ‘Bard of Barnsley’ Ian McMillian.  Look out for the early bird logo and save yourself some pennies!

And finally, award winning talk show host and author Sir Michael Parkinson was announced in September as The Civic’s very first Patron. We have programmed a special ‘evening with Parky’ event in May where he will be sharing stories from his extensive career in journalism and media.  The evening promises to be filled with humour and very special memories, and tickets are already – one not to be missed!

2015 promises to be an eventful year for The Civic in more ways than one, with the launch of our new website and the installation of our new flexible theatre seating in the new year, and a whole host of exhibitions in the gallery and panorama, featuring: The Royal Photographic Society’s International Images of Science, Matisse Drawing with Scissors and the Victoria & Albert Museum‘s touring exhibition A World to Win: Posters of Protest and Revolution.

Chief Executive Helen Ball says, “2015 is an exciting year for us, one full of fresh and exciting performances and opportunities – we hope that you will join us for another busy season of fantastic shows and events!”
