A Level Student Polly Rennison Gets a Place on Prestigious Dentistry Scheme

Barnsley Sixth Form College’s Polly Rennison is one of only a handful of students to be accepted onto a prestigious University of Sheffield scheme which aims to get more students into dentistry.

Polly, who studies A Levels in Drama, English Language and Literature and Health and Social Care, said: “The ADOPT programme has been great; I’ve had chance to get valuable work experience, work alongside current dentistry students and learn about all the different routes into the profession.

“I have applied to study a Dental Hygiene course in September at the University of Sheffield and I wouldn’t have been able to do that without ADOPT.”

Maria Sutton, Barnsley Sixth Form College Progress Coach, added: “We are very proud of Polly getting a place on such a competitive programme, she is an excellent ambassador for the College and for Barnsley.”

ADOPT is just one of many similar programmes that Barnsley Sixth Form College students are encouraged to apply for, these include Sheffield’s Outreach and Access to Medicine Scheme (SOAMS), Realising Potential, Reach for Excellence and Access to Leeds.

It’s not too late to apply to study at Barnsley Sixth Form College. Call 01226 216 123 for more information.
