A Barnsley accountancy firm that can trace its roots back more than a century is moving in to the future with a new director.
Andy, the former corporate tax manager, joins the managing director Robert Watson and two other directors as owners of the company.
Gibson Booth has 29 staff, in the region of 1,000 clients and a turnover which has been growing year on year. The company name goes back over a century to the Gibson family of Barnsley.
“I am delighted to become a director,” said Andy. “It means I will have more influence over the way we move forward and grow the company. We believe our success is based on the quality of service we offer.”
Andy, aged 35, studied accountancy at the University of Hull. He worked in the corporate tax departments of Grant Thornton and BDO before joining Gibson Booth two years ago.
“We are one of very few accountancy firms of our size that has a dedicated tax department, but we see tax advice as a vital service for our clients. It’s about making sure that businesses work efficiently and are not hit by tax bills they aren’t expecting.
“We make sure that we are ahead of the game by keeping abreast of changes in tax regulations and taking ideas to our clients and not just waiting for them to come to us,” said Andy.
“We want to be the advisors of choice for owner managed businesses, so we need to keep up to date.”
