SUPPORTERS of Barnsley Charity “EnRich” are getting on their bikes to raise money … and they are following in cycle tracks from a decade ago when they rode coast-to-coast to raise money for Cancer Research with Richard Tolson in the saddle.
Rich T – who inspired the creation of EnRich following his death from cancer in 2013 – was a key member of that earlier team and thoroughly enjoyed the two-day ride which raised almost £2000 for Cancer Research.
EnRich Charity Trustee Tim Speight, who was a close friend of Richard’s, said: “A number of people wanted to raise funds via a sport-based activity and recreating the Southport to Hornsea bike ride from a decade ago seemed like an appropriate way to do this”.
There are 12 cyclists taking part and they are aiming to raise at least £100 each. Donations for the event which takes place on Saturday July 11th and Sunday July 12th can be made via https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/dy79a
The team consists of Tim Speight, Tim Canfer, James Allen, Adrian Exley, Steve Cocking, Dave Hilton, John Langfield, Mia Wesson, Greg O’Brien, Carl Snowdon, Matthew Snowdon and John Sealey.
“One of my biggest memories from the earlier ride was the fantastic weather
en-route apart from the downpour just as we finished. By choosing a weekend in July we are hoping for lovely weather again!” said Tim.
“We are very grateful to Barnsley College and Carl Snowden of Comprehensive Asbestos Removal Ltd for lending us transport to support the riders,” he added.
The riders will be in Barnsley at lunchtime on Sunday July 12th and welcome anyone who wants to join them for lunch at Walkabout before they continue to Hornsea.
