Ah so last Saturday I made it to the long awaited rescheduled Bomfest. Originally set for 28th July, it was bravely put back to 22nd September. Thankfully it paid off and what a beautiful day it was. As it had rained on previous days, the ground was very spongy but hats off to the organisers for getting everything in place and working so well. I’m not going to list all the bands but there was certainly a good mix from Barnsley and around the country. My main focus was on the Black Vines as a friend plays the drums. They had luckily been placed on the big soundstage which also doubled up as one of the two beer tents on site. They certainly went down a storm as one of the guitarists is a teacher and many of his pupils were in the crowd cheering them on.
I had a good look around – the site was filled with plenty of food and fun stalls, even the Hare Krishnas had blessed the event with their prescence. Cirque Du Manc tent treated us to circus, burlesque and music. There was a metal tent and three dance tents including the Monkey Radio tent. With plenty of well kept porto-loos and bins for rubbish (although somewhat curious that the bins had what appeared to be house numbers on them, say no more 🙂 )
