Elements is pleased to announce the site for our brand new Primary School. After careful consideration of sites around Barnsley, the school will be located at the Honeywell Campus site alongside the Barnsley Sports Academy.
32 Primary Schools were oversubscribed in Barnsley last year (according to Barnsley Council’s admission figures) so the introduction of 60 new Primary School places each year for the local area is much needed. There are also scheduled new houses due to be built metres away from the site further increasing the need for a new Primary School in the area.
The school, when full, will cater for 420 pupils. 60 children will join the Reception Class each year until full in 2021.
Applications to join the school can be made via Barnsley Council’s central admissions process at www.barnsley.gov.uk/schooladmissions. Submissions must be received by the council no later than 15th January 2015.
Mark Wilson, CEO of Wellspring Academy Trust commented: “We are delighted to be able to finally announce the site of our new school. This is a wonderful time for everyone at Wellspring. We feel privileged to develop a brand new Primary School for the people and the children of Barnsley.”
“The Honeywell site presents amazing opportunities. Our children will have the use of outstanding facilities that include AstroTurf pitches and a large indoor gym, as well as a fantastic new school building with great views! My thanks go out to Barnsley College for their incredible support with the project. We cannot wait to open our doors in September 2015.”
Elements will open in September 2015 in temporary accommodation at Belle Vue House, a beautiful period building on Cockerham Lane. In September 2016, the school will transfer to the brand new permanent building on the Honeywell Campus, 200 metres away.
Colin Booth, Principal of Barnsley College, said: “I am delighted that the new Elements Primary School will be opening on schedule in September 2015. This is a great opportunity to establish a new school and to meet the urgent demand for additional primary places in the centre of Barnsley. The temporary site for the new school will be in the beautiful Belle Vue House and the permanent site will be next door on the college’s Honeywell campus. The site for the new school is very exciting because it will give excellent opportunities for the college to help and support the new school in areas such as access to the excellent indoor and outdoor sports facilities which will be located next door to the new school. The new school will also be able to work in partnership with the Chatterbox nursery, also located on the Honeywell site.”
Parents and residents will have the opportunity to meet the team behind Elements Primary School on 24th November 2014 at Digital Media Centre, Barnsley, and 10th December 2014 at Honeywell Sports Centre, Barnsley, 4pm – 7pm. The team will be sharing information about admissions, uniform, and the innovative Elements+ Curriculum that will be in operation at the school.
