Coalfields Festival are proud to announce that they are working in collaboration with local recording studio , Studio 24, to release their very own charity single proceeds of which will go towards the festivals normal charities – Barnsley Hospice and Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.
The Studio – who are also running one of the stages at this years festival – are asking each and every band who are billed to play to sing a couple of lines from a re-worked version of We Are the World. The owner of Studio 24, Brett Jackson explains; ‘We’re really excited to be able to do something like this for charity. We’ve asked The Bar Steward Sons of Val Doonican to re-write the lyrics so that they’ll be more Barnsley based and they’re coming into the Studio on Friday (5th July) to record the instrumentals. ‘We’ll also be having a couple of original tracks from the bands playing at Coalfields on the CD so that it’s not just a single song release.’
The single – which will be available as a limited edition CD at Coalfields Festival on July 27th as well as downloadable through the Coalfields website – will be priced at £3.00.
The studio will be open for bands to record their lines on the following days: July 5th, 7th, 12th and from the 14th until the 17th. Bands playing at Coalfields Festival are invited to contact Studio 24 for a time to go and record their lines for the single.
