College Marketing Team Wins Gold at National Awards

Barnsley College is celebrating after winning a Gold Award in the Communications Campaign at The College Marketing Network’s national FE First Awards 2019, an annual ceremony which rewards and celebrates the best in college marketing.

The College’s #morethanacollege recruitment campaign won the Gold Award in the Communications Campaign category and the College also won the Highly Commended Award in the Innovation and Creativity category for its Umbrella Magazine. The awards ceremony was held during the College Marketing Network’s Annual Conference on Monday 2 December.

As a Gold Award winner, the College was commended for achieving its aims and SMART objectives, the research and planning carried out, good engagement, budget control and for the high quality execution of the #morethanacollege campaign. The #morethanacollege project used the College’s excellent facilities, such as a working farm, restaurant, hair salons and art studios, to promote its enrolment message.

The College’s Umbrella Magazine is an annual lifestyle magazine created to engage with all stakeholders. The Umbrella Magazine was nominated for the award based on the successful engagement of a wide target audience and for showcasing the successes and diversity of the College.

Yiannis Koursis, Principal and Chief Executive of Barnsley College, said: “We are very proud that our Marketing, Communications and PR team has won two awards at the prestigious College Marketing Network awards.

“Both the communication campaign and magazine are key marketing tools for us. They show potential students why choosing to study at Barnsley College will enable them to progress to Higher Education or employment and how we transform lives. The awards are a testament to the hard work and skills of our staff.”

In 2018, the College won two Silver Awards in the Outstanding Individual category and the Full-time Prospectus category.
