Enjoy an eventful Easter holiday at Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Enjoy an eventful Easter holiday at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, with lots of great art, chocolate and fun for all the family.

Be active Blow away the winter cobwebs on a WILD Seasonal Walk (4 April 2015 / 11.00 / Free) and witness the delights of spring emerging throughout YSP; or become a young explorer in the Springtime Fun Trail (5+6 April 2015 / Free / Drop in), by taking a self-guided tour in search of YSP’s ‘golden geese’ and new-born lambs.

Be creative Learn the ancient techniques of Basket Weaving (11 April 2015 / 10.00–16.00 / £70, concessions £65, includes refreshments, lunch and parking) in a one-day workshop with wood artist Peter Howcroft. Learn how to weave using cane to make your own basket, dish or bowl.

Be inspired Join the Family Sculpture Workshop: Moore Landed (8+9 April 2015 / 10.30 & 13.30 / £2) to create your own hand-held sculpture from clay and plaster, inspired by YSP’s new major exhibition of work by Henry Moore.

Be sure to see YSP’s major new exhibition, Henry Moore: Back to a Land, which features over 120 works considering the artist’s profound relationship with land. And don’t forget to pick up a Henry Moore family activity leaflet to find out about more fun things to do, at YSP and back at home.

Be one of the first to see the new Arts Council Collection touring exhibition Making It: Sculpture in Britain 1977–1986, in YSP’s Longside Gallery. Opening on 1 April 2015, Making It surveys a generation of artists, from the late 1970s and 1980s, who share a revived interest in the sculpted object, in materials, and in ideas around making.

It’s also the last chance to see Nick Crowe and Ian Rawlinson: Song for Coal, an immersive audio-visual work displayed in YSP’s 18th century chapel, which closes on 19 April 2015.

Named Art Fund Museum of the Year 2014, YSP is open 7 days a week from 10.00–17.00 (until 29 March 2015), 10.00–18.00 (from 30 March 2015) and admission is free.
