This month Gallery@ The Civic says farewell to our season of commemorating the miners’ strike, and welcome a variety of events and exhibitions which are truly ‘out of this world’.
Continuing to showcase excellent home-grown talent, the work of local artist Mark Evans will be exhibited on the Panorama from the same day. Dot to Dot to Now is a series of portraits of his daughter through her first five years. Using pointillism; a technique of painting in which small, distinct dots of colour are applied in patterns to form an image, Evans excellently captures the appearance and character of his child.
Dr. Afzal Ansary ASIS FRPS – Exhibition Co-ordinator comments:
“The exhibition is a stunning, colourful, visual feast. What is particularly exciting is that the images highlight the crucial role that photography continues to play in modern science, illustrating the work of scientists and as an essential research tool. This year’s exhibition is outstanding in the breadth of subjects and the quality of work shown”.
Apothecarium Craft Fair is at The Civic on Saturday 29 November from 10am-4pm.
Mark Evans: Dot to Dot to Now will be exhibited on the Panorama Saturday 29 November to 31 January 2015.
