Local arts and music website Alternative Barnsley launch their third event of the year with record launch from Del Scott Miller.
Del Scott Miller
The bespectacled guitarist, vocalist, songwriter in Mynas, one of Barnsley’s most popular bands, Mynas, and the guitarist in local folk band Parson’s Lot, is launching he first ever solo EP at local real ale favourite, The Old No 7. Del will be playing songs from the record, along with a selection of songs from his other bands with a number of special guests, including The Tempertons’ sax heroine Katie Needham and Parson’s Lot frontman, Jeff Platts.
Del says ‘I realised a solo EP, first and foremost, to see if I could do a decent job of it. Secondly, as much as I love writing and arranging for Mynas, there are a few thing I miss; classical guitar and singing what I’ve written. I currently have another two EPs in various states, so I’ll keep the solo moonlighting ticking over while Mynas are fettling the third album. I like to keep busy.’
Del’s EP has been described as sounding like 60s NYC folk rock fused with West Coast cafe Jazz, and his voice like Paul Simon and Paul Heaton.
Also playing is Stuburt, a regular of local live circuit since the late 90s, with acts such as Grande Casino and Black Vines. Also playing is Summer Greenwood, who moved to Barnsley from, Australia last year. She describes her music as moody acoustic folk and has a real Joni Mitchell feel to her voice.
