University Campus Barnsley (UCB) has a brand new Performing Arts course starting in September 2015.
The Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Performing Arts is studied over one year and like no other course offered in the region. Students will have the opportunity to work with professional writers from London and Los Angeles, devise and rehearse their own productions and take their work on tour, providing unique practical theatre and performing arts experience.
Upon completion of the course students will obtain the qualification and experience needed to complete a Higher National Diploma, top-up degree or go on to work in the performing arts industry.
The course will be based at the Electric Theatre on Falcon Street, Barnsley, where students will be supported by a team of skilled technical staff who will help create exciting and original drama and musical theatre productions to take on tour.
Head of Music, Media and Performance Victoria Taylor, said: “This is a really exciting opportunity for students who are passionate about the performing arts.
“As well as developing skills as an actor, students will learn about the industry by experiencing it first-hand. We plan to organise a trip for students to visit America to perform which will allow them to put all of their skills in to practice.”
