University Campus Barnsley (UCB) has two new courses for people who would like to gain qualifications to teach.
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is designed for those who have no teaching experience or are teaching and need a formal qualification. This course is ideal for anyone wanting to turn a hobby into a business, run an evening class, teach in the community or voluntary sector, or prepare for teaching in the Further Education (FE) sector. The course is ten weeks in duration and can be studied daytime or evening.
For those who are already in a teaching or training position and are looking to update their skills and qualifications there is the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training. Students will need access to 30 hours teaching experience over the 30-week course.
Rachel Davison, Course Leader in Teaching and Learning, said: “People undertake these courses for a variety of reasons, they may have a hobby and want to share their knowledge, they may simply want to update skills or get a recognised qualification. Everyone is welcome.”
The Level 3 course starts on Monday 19 January and the cost is £395. The Level 4 course will start after Easter and is £850. Both courses can be paid in three instalments to spread the cost and those over 24 may be eligible for a 24+ Learning Loan to cover the fees for the Level 4 qualification.
There will be an information session for the Level 3 Award on Monday 12 January at 6pm in room 3/02 at UCB on Church Street. For more information on either of these courses please call 01226 216 165 or visit www.barnsley.ac.uk/ucb.
