Join artist Jonny Hannah and friends, on 17 February 2018 (from 18.30 / £46), for an unforgettable evening of fun and frivolity at the Darktown Mermaid Café. Featuring poetry readings, music, singing, piano playing, films and Art Bingo, the artist-curated cabaret includes performances by Hannah and his special guests, and is accompanied by a delicious three-course meal, selected by the artist.
As a special memento of the evening, Hannah will individually illustrate and print exclusive limited edition menus, along with bespoke wooden placement settings for each guest. Darktown clientele will also receive a special limited edition goodie bag. The perfect gift (or antidote!) for Valentine’s Day.
Alternatively, if you’re just looking for a stunning way to spend the day, YSP has plenty to offer. There’s 500 acres of beautiful Yorkshire landscape, punctuated with over 80 sculptures by world-renowned artists including Ai Weiwei, Phyllida Barlow, Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth, ideal for a romantic stroll.
Explore visually and emotionally stunning installations by pioneering Chilean artist Alfredo Jaar, in the Underground Gallery and open air (until 8 April 2018). Feel empowered by the work of artists who seek to make a difference in Revolt & Revolutions (6 January–15 April 2018) in the Bothy Gallery. And, see intricate collages, scraper boards and prints by Ed Kluz in Sheer Folly – Fanciful Buildings of Britain in YSP Centre.
