This Autumn, The Civic welcomes the return of a few comedy favourites to help add a bit of much needed laughter to the end of your day, and be the perfect start to your night out in Barnsley.
Radio Sheffield Breakfast presenter and much loved comedian Toby Foster presents three upcoming comedians in his Last Laugh Comedy Club. Word Life are back with a charmingly poetic spoken word performance by Rommi Smith. And Cabaret Boom Boom return for the ninth time with another incredible evening of entertainment. Last but not least, Chris Ramsey makes a stop at The Civic with his hit 2014 stand-up tour.
Toby Foster’s Last Laugh Comedy Club presents comedians Rudi Lickwood, Nina Gilligan and Luke Toulson. As a top comedian on the UK comedy circuit, Rudi Lickwood is a charming character with a super confident playful personality oozing charisma, and loved wherever he performs. Nina Gilligan exploded onto the comedy scene a couple of years ago, bringing sometimes outrageous but always hilarious, observational and story-telling comedy. Finally, Luke Toulson who has written for Live at The Apollo and Mock the Week, will be sure to bring his comical delights to the Last Laugh Comedy Club this September.
During the Paines Plough Roundabout Festival, to compliment the three day programme of events situating a pop-up theatre in the round and starring ex-Emmerdale actress Sian Reese-Williams, we also have a handful of local entertainment. Word Life returns with a selection of the best in spoken word and live literature by poet and playwright Rommi Smith, with open-mic slots for the public to try out their material. For yet another night of superior variety entertainment, Maynard Flip Flap, Mr Herbert and Stewart Lodge compares the latest Cabaret Boom Boom. Headlining true legend of alternative comedy Martin Soan, supported by London Cabaret Act of the Year 2014 winner and totally off her tea trolley Tina T’urner Tea lady, and exceptional magician and performer Steve Faulkner, this show is sure to have you amazed, amused and sometimes confused!
And finally, following a five-month sold-out UK tour, star of BBC Two’s sitcom Hebburn and Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee, Chris Ramsey will be at The Civic with ‘The Most Dangerous Man on Saturday Morning Television’. After being thrown off Soccer AM (Sky) for what he thought was an innocuous comment, Chris Ramsey started to wonder whether he might actually be ‘the most dangerous man on Saturday morning television’. In this tour he discovers what happens when you say the wrong thing in the wrong place at the wrong time.
